Because we will be having a lot of construction happening (big trucks & equipment driving everywhere) over the next year, I needed to pick a spot that was going to be less traveled. Primarily because I don’t want to have to start over once I get going & secondarily because I don’t want anyone wrecking my garden. So it was crucial to find a spot that would work. And wouldn’t you know that I would pick the least desirable soil that I could. ha!
3/4ths of our land is beautiful sandy loam. I mean the top soil and select fill we are pulling out and maneuvering around is some of the best soil around. But low and behold, the one area (the highest point of our property) I choose for a garden (that would greatly benefit from all that amazing soil) is hard clay. Which meant I had to amend it before I could start planting. (And will have to keep amending in order to get really good soil from this spot).
Take a watch as I get my garden spot worked out and what’s been going on at our land…
