What is the deal with the critters??? This one was What is the deal with the critters??? This one was like a literal thief in the night.

Iโ€™ve never had one just blatantly help themselves to my harvest. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ญ

May have to escalate to thermal night vision asap.

Lets talk about watering your gardenโ€ฆ If youโ€™re d Lets talk about watering your gardenโ€ฆ

If youโ€™re doing a light watering every day, youโ€™re only wetting the top inch or two of soil.

Your plantโ€™s roots have no reason to grow down deep to find water, so they stay right near the surface.

That makes them incredibly vulnerable to heat and drought.

Instead, you want to water deeply but less often.

The goal is to soak the soil six to eight inches down.

This encourages the roots to grow deep to chase that moisture, building a strong, resilient root system that can handle the stress.

A good rule of thumb is about one inch of water per week, all in one or two sessions. Let it soak in deep, and your plants will thank you for it.

From the University of Minnesota Extension:
โ€œOne inch of rain is a lot of water.
For a 100 square-foot area, one inch of rain is 62 gallons.
Figure out the actual size of your garden by measuring length and width in feet.
Multiply those numbers to get the total square footage.
If a garden is 20 feet by 30 feet (600 square feet), it would need 372 gallons of water after a week without rain.โ€

Planting out apple trees (Part 2) Hereโ€™s my proce Planting out apple trees (Part 2)

Hereโ€™s my process to planting out fruit trees (which is nearly identical to how I plant out in my garden):
1. Dig a hole (appropriate sizing for the tree about 2-3x the width of the bare roots and deep enough where the graft is at least 2โ€โ€™above backfill line/soil line)
2. Pour water into the hole
3. Add worm castings
4. Place the tree & backfill it in
5. Give it another good water
6. Add a stake to grow straight
7. Add a drip bucket for water supply

Looking forward to my fruit tree row to produce food for my family, my community and generations to come. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you again @applegirlkait & @willowdrivenursery
