Build the setup first. Good soil with compost. Space plants so air actually moves. Mix in herbs and flowers so beneficial insects show up. Water deep and stay consistent. That’s it. When the setup is right, most of the problems don’t show up the same way. I didn’t need more tricks — I needed a better system. It’s starts with a plan!! 1. Start smaller than y It’s starts with a plan!! 1. Start smaller than you want to You’re not planting a farm. You’re proving you can keep plants alive. Pick 3–5 crops. That’s it. 2. Grow what you actually eat Not what’s trendy. Not what looks pretty on Instagram. If you won’t cook it… you won’t stay motivated to grow it. I promise. 3. Fix your timing (this is where most people fail) Especially in the South — if you plant too late, the heat will wreck everything. You don’t get a “figure it out later” window. 4. Build protection in from day one This is the part nobody in your family was taught. Don’t wait for pests → plant your defense system early. Flowers, herbs, spacing, airflow. Set it up right the first time. 5. Create a simple routine (not a weekend marathon) 10–15 minutes, a few times a week: ➡️ Check soil before watering ➡️ Look under leaves ➡️ Harvest often ➡️ Handle problems early Consistency > intensity. Every time. 6. Expect to mess something up — and keep going anyway You’re not behind. You’re just the first one doing it. That means you don’t have “passed down knowledge”… you’re building it. The difference between “I tried gardening once” and “I grow my own food now” isn’t skill. Plant in the evening — which will give them: 12+ hours to settle in cooler temps no intense sun beating down Having that overnight window is the difference between: 👉 stressed plants trying to survive vs 👉 plants that wake up ready to grow Even if you plant in the evening, you also need to be mindful of doing these things as well: ➡️Water them in deeply (don’t skip this) ➡️Don’t fertilize immediately (wait a few days) ➡️Harden them off first (or you’re still setting them up to fail) P.S.
